Illuminate helps with the following problems...

Healthier Collaboration Dynamic

Visual cues helps the whole group manage turn-taking and ensures everyone has a chance to speak.

Better Mental Health

Reduces stress in students who are hesitant about interjecting in a group discussion.

Holding Space

Makes space for diverse communication styles, improving group equity and encouraging contributions from all voices, not just the loudest.

Promote Confidence

Empowering undergraduate students to speak up with confidence by creating space for every voice—fostering real-world communication skills through inclusive, interruption-free engagement.
Applying Tangible User Interfaces to the Classroom

Collaboration, Reimagined.

Illuminate is a lamp to encourage individuals to participate in group activities. We want to empower individuals to participate without the stress of speaking over others or raising a hand for long periods of time.
Discover Illuminate

What is it made of?

Arduino Plug and Make Kit

Using the Arduino Plug and Make kit, we brought interactivity to life with Modulino Buttons, Modulino Distance, and Modulino Pixels and integrated it seamlessly with our lamp.

PLA Materials

Fabricated using clear PLA filament in the Makerspace, the semi-translucent material enables partial light transmission for a sleek, modern aesthetic.

Glass Top

By soldering glass pieces together in the Glass Garage, we fused function with artistry—creating a seamless yet striking visual effect.
